Tangle Nine is a word-and-logic puzzle. Every word belongs at the intersection of its meaning row and spelling column.
Playing a puzzle
Open Today or Browse, choose a puzzle, and tap Untangle. Select a word, then select its space on the board. Tap a rule for its meaning. Hard and Tangle 16 offer a hint without placing a word; each new hint adds 30 seconds to your ranked time. New hints cycle through words that are currently misplaced. Reviewing saved hints is free.
Finding your progress
Saved shows your unfinished and completed games. Progress is stored on the device you used. To move it, open App settings → Your saves → Export saves, then import the file on your other device. Transfers are manual.
Keep exported files private: they contain the keys that let you return to your rankings and friend challenges. Avoid deleting the app while troubleshooting.
Offline play and updates
Downloaded free puzzles work offline. Downloaded exclusive Plus puzzles can be opened offline for up to 24 hours after a successful access check, within the paid period. Starting a new future Daily on its free day needs one connection to retain its free access. New puzzle downloads, rankings and friend challenges require a connection. In App settings, select Check for new puzzles when connected.
Tangle Plus and purchases
Plus offers the same membership benefits for $2.99 per month or $24.99 per year in the United States. The yearly plan is charged upfront. Manage or cancel in your Apple subscription settings. Changing between monthly and yearly takes effect at the next renewal.
In Tangle, open Plus → Membership & Restore Purchases → Restore Purchases to recover an eligible Apple membership. This does not import saved progress. If you already have Plus and the library cannot connect, keep the app installed and reconnect; do not buy again.
Replay
Open a completed puzzle and select Replay. You get a fresh board and timer. Your original result stays saved; replays are unranked and use the same words and solution.
Sound, reminders and the opening
App settings contains Sound & touch and the optional Daily reminder. Skip the opening when you want to start immediately. Replay opening is under Game help.
